Social media has nowadays become a watchdog of political democracy. It now affects every decision that the government takes. It can be used as a very helpful tool to deal with most serious problems of the country.

It has such a great impact that it can even make government revoke its decisions.

One such incident is when the government took the decision to ban 857 porn websites on July 7, 2015.

Kamlesh Vaswani, a lawyer, wanted to ban porn so that the innocent, susceptible, vulnerable women and children of India will be safe. He put up several arguments saying that porn is like cancer that is eating our society at every second across the country. He further said that watching porn propels men to commit crimes against women. According to the government too, nothing can more efficiently destroy a person, fizzle their mind, evaporate their future and destroy society like pornography. It is an anti-social pursuit and hence not an attack on the 'Right to freedom of expression' of people.

However, across the country people fumed, raged and ranted about how wrong the move is. People on Twitter described it as an invasion of privacy. Soon hashtags such as Nextbanindia, Pornban became trending and government was forced to come out and say that now the ban only implies on child phonographic content.

The people got hysterical when they got to know about the ban and used Twitter as a medium to express their discontent as they felt it is a violation of their rights.
But why don't they use the same twitter to fight against some severe issues like molestation against women?

Isn't it strange that the country which has a couple of serious issues which really need to be tackled with only joined there hands on a trivial matter such as porn ban and forced the government to change it?
When countries like Nigeria can successfully use social media to stimulate anger and debate in the country on the issue of molestation and yield some positive result than why can't we, who have more number of Internet users can do it?
Sometimes only one voice is not enough to make a change but when many people band together on a platform like Twitter to bring several issues to light and stir up enough trouble to get something done about it.

No doubt Twitter has become one of the most powerful tools in the modern world, instead of misusing it we should use it to find a solution for the things that are eating our country like a termite.
